Depending on whether your community is Open or Closed, you may need to be invited to join before you can get involved. You can tell which type of community you're joining by visiting the URL:

Open communities will show the home page of the community and have the option to Sign in OR Register in the top right corner of the page.
Closed communities will present a log-in page meaning you'll need to be invited before you can take part.

Registering to an Open Community

Open communities can be viewed by anyone, however, you can only participate by registering an account. To do this:

1. Visit the URL of your community and click Register in the top right corner of the page.

2. Your community may provide you with the option to log in using a social media account (facebook twitter etc), otherwise, click Register to continue:

3. Next, you'll need to fill in the following profile fields:

  • Display name - This will be used to represent you in the community. If however, you enter your First and Last name during the profile set up these will be used instead.

  • Email address - This should be the email you would like Crowdicity to send notifications to.

  • Password - Your password must contain a minimum of 8 characters.

You'll also need to agree to the Crowdicity Terms of Use and Privacy policy along with completing the security captcha.

4. After registering your profile, you'll be sent an email with a simple one-click link to validate your email address. Click this to complete the registration process allowing you to create your profile and access the community.

Registering to a Closed community

You'll need to be invited to a closed community before you can participate in one. If you're joining a closed community, you'll have received an invitation email:

1. Check your email for an invite email similar to the example below. Click the Create an account link to validate your email and be directed to the community. From here, you can register your account.

2. Next, you'll be asked to choose a Display name and a Password (which must be a minimum of 8 characters). You'll also need to agree to the Crowdicity Terms of use and Privacy Policy.

Once you have completed the required information, click Register and follow the on screen instructions to create your profile.

Logging in with your company email and password

If your community has set up SSO (Single Sign-On) you'll be able to log into your community using the same email and password you use to log in to your other internal company systems.

When logging into the community, you'll see an Organisational Log In option, though this may have been changed to something more familiar such as 'Company ID'. Click this to be taken to your company login page and enter your usual email and password, after which, you'll be able to create your profile.

Creating your profile

Once you have successfully registered, you'll need to create your profile. Here, you'll be asked to provide the following basic information:

  • Display name

  • First and Last name

  • City

  • Country

  • Timezone

  • Language

By clicking Next, you'll have the opportunity to provide information about your skills and a short bio, along with answering any additional questions set up by the community manager.

Good to know

When we email you, we'll use the name you provide in your profile information. By default, this will be your First and Last name, however, if you have not provided these, we'll use your Display name instead. Troubleshooting

Below are some of the most common issues and their solutions.

Your email needs to be validated

Depending on how you've accessed the community, you may see the following message once you've registered to the community:

To validate your email, take a look in your inbox for the email below and click the validation link. Be sure to check your Junk/Spam folder if you don't see it in your main inbox.

You don't have authorisation to access a community

If you're seeing the below message, you're trying to access a community that you have not yet been invited to.

If you believe you should have access, contact the community admin. If you do not know who this is please contact us at help.medallia.com

Invitation or validation email not received

If you haven't received an email from the community, we recommend checking your junk/spam folder just in case it's landed there. If you still can't locate it, please contact us at help.medallia.com

The screen name you have selected already exists

Your screen name will need to be completely unique, so you'll need to choose something that no other Crowdicity user is already using.

If you see the above on-screen message, try using a different display name or adding numbers on the end eg. John_smith123.
