In Crowdicity, there are many ways that users can like, rate or otherwise show their appreciation for ideas that have been posted in challenges.
When you set up a challenge, you can choose how you would like users to vote on the ideas in that particular challenge. You can find these options in the Settings tab, in the challenge editor, or in the relevant parts of the Challenge Type tab for funnel and milestone challenges.
If you have set up a standard or funnel challenge, then you can choose to have any type of voting that you'd like. A milestone challenge only allows you to use thumbs up voting, as that is how ideas progress through voting targets.

There are 5 different types of voting that you can have for your challenges, the table below explains what they are and the type of score or rating that ideas will be given when all of the votes are taken into account.

Thumbs Up/Down
| Users can click on thumbs up or thumbs down icon, which give the idea +1 or -1 points respectively.
| The idea score will show the sum of the plus and minus votes. eg if An idea has received 3 thumbs up and one thumbs down, it will have a score of 2 in total.

Thumbs Up
| Users can click on a thumbs up icon (similar to a 'Like' in social media). Each Thumbs up gives the idea 1 vote.
| The idea score will be the total number of thumbs up that it has received.

Star Rating
| Users rate ideas, giving them up to 5 stars. You can choose to set the maximum number of stars that can be awarded, from 3 to 5 stars.
| Star ratings are averaged to give an overall score for an idea. For example, an idea may have a score of 3.5 stars out of 5.

Points voting
| Users give points to an idea. You can set the maximum number of points a user can give to any one idea, up to a maximum of 10.
| The points given to ideas are totalled. For example, if one user gives an idea 5 points, and the next user gives it 10 points, that idea will then have a total of 15 points.

Scorecard
| Users can rate ideas against a set of criteria that you specify. For each criteria, they give the idea a score out of 10.
| The idea is given an average (mean) score for each criteria, and an overall average score.

Additional voting options
When you have decided on the type of voting that you'd like for your challenge, there are three additional options that you can choose:
Enable blind voting on ideas
Show who voted
Enable voting wallet
Blind voting
When blind voting is turned on, users will be able to vote for ideas, but only moderators will be able to see the idea's score. Users will not be able to see which ideas have the most votes, or are doing well in the challenge, only moderators will be able to see the totals.
Blind voting can be useful if you don't want users to be swayed by the opinions of others, or if you'd like to ensure that they aren't only viewing an idea because it is 'popular'.
To turn blind voting on:
Go to Challenge Management, find the challenge that you want to add blind voting to and click Edit.
Go to the voting settings, which will be under the Settings tab for a standard challenge and select the voting type that you want for the challenge (eg thumbs up, star rating, etc).
Tick the box next to Enable blind voting on ideas and click Save.
Show who voted
This options displays a list next to each idea. The list shows users who voted on the idea, and how they voted. Note that having this option active at the same time as blind voting will undermine the effectiveness of blind voting, since a score can be calculated from the votes.
To turn "Show who voted" on:
Go to Challenge Management, find the challenge that you want to add blind voting to and click Edit.
Go to the voting settings, which will be under the Settings tab for a standard challenge and select the voting type that you want for the challenge (eg thumbs up, star rating, etc).
Tick the box next to Show who voted and click Save.
Voting wallet
The voting wallet option allows you to limit the number of ideas that user can vote for, or the number of points that they can give to ideas. You can turn on the voting wallet in the same way as blind voting:
Go to Challenge Management, find the challenge that you want to add blind voting to and click Edit.
Go to the voting settings, which will be under the Settings tab for a standard challenge, and select the voting type that you want for the challenge (eg thumbs up, star rating, etc).
Tick the box next to Enable voting wallet, choose the number of votes you want users to have and click Save.
