You can add a meta description for your Crowdicity community, and can also add a meta description for many of your community's pages.

A meta description is used by search engines such as Google or Bing to understand what a website or webpage is about, and will help them to decide whether a page is relevant to someone's search.

Understanding meta descriptions

If your Crowdicity community is public, and you'd like as many users as possible to find and join the community, you can use meta descriptions to make it more likely that your community will appear in search results.

If you add a meta description for a page, it wont be visible on the page, but it will help search engines to understand whether your page would be relevant to people who are searching for web pages.

Search engines often display the meta description for a page in search results, so if you add a meta description for the community or for a page it's important to make it concise and easy to read.

If your community is private, or if you don't want to make it easier for people to search for your community, just leave the Meta description fields blank.

A blank meta description does not mean that it's impossible for someone to find your community using a search engine, but it does mean that it's very unlikely that someone will. Even if someone finds your community, they wouldn't be able to sign into the community unless you gave them access.

Adding meta descriptions to your community
